The SUMO:BIT Expansion Board for micro:bit is an innovative platform designed for enthusiasts interested in building and programming Sumo robots. It offers a user-friendly experience, particularly for beginners, by utilizing the Microsoft MakeCode Editor, which supports both block-based and text-based programming in JavaScript or Python. This expansion board is co-processed by the Raspberry Pi RP2040, enhancing its computational capabilities.
The board features a detachable MD13S motor driver, allowing for easy replacement and maintenance. It supports powerful motor operations with a continuous current capacity of up to 13A and a peak current of 30A. The SUMO:BIT is versatile, enabling seamless switching between autonomous and remote-controlled modes, facilitated by a USB host for wireless USB joystick connectivity.
Additionally, the board includes onboard motor alignment adjustment and calibration, ensuring precise control and performance. A 4-way DIP switch is integrated, offering 16 different strategic configurations for competitive advantage in Sumo robot competitions.
Note: This board is designed to be optimally used with the MD13S motor driver. These maximum ratings are based on the assumption that the SUMO:BIT is connected to the MD13S motor driver boards.
