The Sparkfun Resettable Fuse (PTC) is a protective device designed to prevent system damage by limiting excessive current flow. When the circuit draws more than 250mA, the PTC heats up and increases resistance, effectively breaking the circuit and allowing only minimal leakage current. Once the short is removed, the PTC resets and permits normal current flow up to 250mA. This fuse is ideal for battery-powered devices requiring protection against high-current accidental discharges.
Note: The leakage current may still be sufficient to damage some electronics.
