Description
Sherline Zero Adjustable Handwheel
Offers precise control with easy zero reset
Installs easily by releasing one set screw
Available in both inch and metric versions
Includes special handwheel for Z-axis stress relief
Upgrades older machines with ball bearing set
The Sherline Zero Adjustable Handwheel offers machinists the ability to reset the handwheel to 'zero' or any desired setting during machining operations, a feature typically found in more expensive full-size machine tools. This handwheel can be easily installed in place of standard handwheels by releasing a single set screw. Its operation is straightforward: release the black locking nut while holding the handwheel, reset the red handwheel collar to 'zero', and retighten the locking nut. This functionality allows for precise control over the feed amount, eliminating the need for complex calculations and reducing the likelihood of errors.
The handwheel is available in both inch and metric versions, and all standard 1⅝-inch handwheels can be replaced with 2-inch adjustable handwheels. However, the larger 2½-inch handwheels are not recommended for simultaneous use on the lathe leadscrew and tailstock due to potential interference, though they can be used elsewhere. A special 2½-inch diameter handwheel is designed for the Z-axis of the mill or vertical milling column, featuring a ball thrust bearing set to alleviate stress from the vertical lifting action, a feature not present on other horizontal axes. This special handwheel is included with newer machines, and older machines can be upgraded to incorporate the new ball bearing set when acquiring the resettable handwheel.
