The Sherline Pool Cue Live Center Instructions provide guidance for using a specialized live center designed for crafting pool cues. This tool features an extended nose, allowing users to begin cutting from the tip of the pool cue without requiring additional material for gripping. The center body is constructed from case-hardened steel and operates on two preloaded sealed ball bearings, ensuring smooth rotation. It is equipped with a #0 Morse taper to fit the tailstock, and the run-out of the 60-degree tip is maintained at .0025 inches or less.
This live center is specifically designed for front-load and lower-tolerance applications, such as pool cue manufacturing. It is not intended for eliminating side-load or machining parts with tight tolerances. Users should be aware of potential side play at the tip, ranging from .002 to .004 inches, which may be influenced by the tailstock spindle's position. The sealed bearings are permanently lubricated, requiring no maintenance, and are pressed in at the factory with preload adjustments made prior to assembly.
Note: The Pool Cue Live Center is not user-serviceable once assembled, and users should consider the potential side play when applying pressure during use.
