The Sherline Manual 8-Inch Tabletop Lathe Package A (Metric) is a compact and versatile machine designed for precision work on small parts. It is capable of turning parts up to 3.5 inches in diameter over the bed and 1.88 inches over the carriage, with the option to increase this capacity to 6 inches with the use of riser blocks. The lathe provides 8 inches of space between centers, making it suitable for a variety of applications, including clockmaking and modeling. Its compact size allows it to be easily stored and used in areas where space is limited, such as on a closet shelf.

This lathe is equipped with an electronic speed control system that offers a continuously variable speed range from 70 to 2800 RPM, eliminating the need for belt changes. Additionally, a secondary pulley position is available to provide extra torque at lower RPMs when necessary. The standard equipment also comprises laser-engraved aluminum handwheels, pulleys, a drive belt, a faceplate, a lathe dog, two dead centers, hexagonal keys, a tool post, a sharpened high-speed steel cutting tool, and an instruction manual.
