The Sherline Carbide Insert LH 80° 3/8″ Boring Bar w/ 2 Flats is a versatile tool designed for use in converting a Sherline lathe into a chucker or gang-tooling lathe. This tool is particularly effective for manufacturing parts with diameters of 1/2″ (13mm) or smaller. The innovative design includes a second flat on the boring bar, allowing it to be held with the insert face either up or down. This feature enhances its functionality, enabling it to serve as both a boring bar and an outside diameter turning tool.
Crafted from 1144 Stress-proof steel and finished with black oxide, the boring bar is durable and reliable. It is equipped with an 80° carbide insert, which can be utilized in various orientations to optimize performance and reduce chip buildup. The tool is capable of boring holes slightly over 2 inches deep and is suitable for use in a 3/4″ starting hole. This adaptability makes it an essential component for precision machining tasks.
