The Sherline 6-Direction 2-Axis Machine Slide (Metric) is a precision-engineered tool designed for versatile machining applications. Constructed primarily from 6061-T6 aluminum, it features a durable black anodized finish. The machine slide incorporates steel components with ground dovetails, ensuring stability and precision during operation. The table measures 8 inches by 2.75 inches and is equipped with a metric leadscrew, providing precise control over movements. The column, made of 11-inch steel with ground dovetails, also utilizes a metric leadscrew, enhancing the accuracy of machining tasks.
The leadscrews are precision rolled from steel, and the table screws are strategically positioned beneath the table to prevent interference from chips. The machine slide offers adjustable leadscrew backlash, allowing for fine-tuning to maintain accuracy. The dovetailed tables and saddles are equipped with adjustable gibs, eliminating play and ensuring smooth operation. The machine slide facilitates X- and Z-axis movements via handwheel, complemented by manual ram control for column rotation, pivot, swing, and in/out travel. The 2-inch industrial handwheels are graduated in 0.01 mm increments, providing precise measurement capabilities.
This machine slide is designed with mounting provisions from both the bottom and top, offering flexibility in installation. It supports a weight capacity of approximately 10 pounds and is engineered for a duty cycle of 2080 hours under heavy use, making it suitable for demanding machining environments.
