The Sherline 2-Axis X/Y Manual Machine Slide (") is a precision-engineered component derived from the X/Y base of the Sherline miniature milling machine. It facilitates precise movement along the X and Y axes, with the Y-axis enabling in-and-out table movement and the X-axis allowing side-to-side travel. When mounted vertically, the X-axis remains the same, while the vertical movement is referred to as the Z-axis.
Constructed from durable 6061-T6 aluminum, the slide is finished with a black anodized coating, ensuring both strength and aesthetic appeal. The machine slide is available in two table lengths, 13 inches or 18 inches, and can be equipped with either an inch or metric leadscrew, depending on the user's requirements. The leadscrews are precision rolled from steel, and the design includes adjustable backlash to maintain accuracy.
The dovetailed tables and saddles feature adjustable gibs to eliminate play, enhancing the precision of operations. Handwheels are meticulously graduated in .001-inch increments for inch slides and .01 mm increments for metric slides, allowing for fine adjustments. The slide is designed with mounting provisions from the bottom using four 1/4-20 holes or from the top with angle clamps, offering flexibility in installation.
Note: Avoid using WD40 as a lubricant to maintain optimal performance.
