The Sherline 18-Inch NexGen Benchtop Mill Package A CNC Ready (Metric) is a sophisticated milling machine designed for both professional and hobbyist applications requiring precision and versatility. This benchtop mill is engineered to accommodate small, precision parts, offering a spacious work area and enhanced rigidity for seamless CNC integration. It is capable of cutting a variety of materials, including wood, plastic, aluminum, and steel, while maintaining desktop-size convenience with full-size machine precision.
This CNC-ready mill features factory-installed stepper motor mounts, allowing for the application of stepper motors and computer numeric controls. However, it is important to note that stepper motors, computers, and CNC software are not included, and the machine cannot be operated until these components are installed. The mill provides three directions of travel, with the headstock spindle capable of positioning in four additional directions, enabling drilling or milling from virtually any angle.
The package includes handwheels for each axis, which can be mounted to the end of dual-shaft stepper motors for manual control. The mill is equipped with a powerful 90V DC motor with an electronic speed controller, an 18-inch mill base with Y-axis leadscrew protection, and an extended mill table with T-slots. Additional features include a tooling plate, an extended column bed, and an extra-rigid column base.
The A Package offers a comprehensive set of tools and accessories, including a step block hold-down set, a Sherline hex T-driver, a center drill set, a fly cutter with a carbide bit, a mill collet set with a drawbolt, an end mill set, an end mill holder, and a milling vise. These components enhance the mill's functionality and provide users with the necessary tools for a wide range of milling tasks.
Note: CNC-ready machines cannot be operated manually unless double-shaft stepper motors are installed.
