The Sherline 14-Inch 8-Direction Benchtop Mill XYZ Base CNC Ready (Metric) is a versatile and adaptable milling base designed for precision and efficiency. This model is crafted to accommodate the headstock and motor/speed control from a lathe, allowing for a seamless transition between different machining tasks. The base is derived from the 2000-series 8-direction mill, featuring a robust 14-inch base and a 13-inch table, both of which are equipped with laser-engraved measurements for enhanced accuracy.
This CNC-ready base is equipped with mounts for stepper motors on the X, Y, and Z axes, facilitating the integration of stepper motors for automated control. The travel dimensions for the axes are X=8.65 inches (220 mm), Y=7.0 inches (178 mm), and Z=5.38 inches (137 mm), providing ample range for various milling operations. Included with the base are three low-mass 1-5/8 inch handwheels, which can be attached to dual-shaft stepper motors to enable manual control alongside CNC functionality.
The Sherline Benchtop Mill XYZ Base is particularly well-suited for small production line processes, where precise control and automation are paramount. The ability to switch between manual and CNC control, once dual-shaft stepper motors are installed, offers flexibility and adaptability in a range of machining applications.
Note: CNC-ready machines cannot be operated manually unless double-shaft stepper motors are installed.
