This crosslide is notably thicker than the standard version, measuring .870 inches, which necessitates the use of a headstock riser plate to align tooling with the headstock. This modification allows for the accommodation of multiple gang-tooling tool posts, enhancing the lathe's versatility for specialized tasks.

However, the increased thickness of the crosslide introduces certain limitations. It is not advisable to use this crosslide as a replacement for standard lathe operations. The setup precludes the use of a tailstock, as there is no riser available for it, thereby preventing parts from being turned between centers. Additionally, some accessories, such as the thread-cutting attachment, are incompatible with this configuration.

The CNC-ready crosslide is equipped with a CNC leadscrew, a standard 1-5/8 inch handwheel, and a stepper motor mount, which are factory-installed to accommodate 23-frame size stepper motors. For those who prefer manual control, dual-shaft stepper motors are recommended.
