The Shapeoko HDZ for Shapeoko 3 (Upgrade) is a premium enhancement designed to replace the existing X/Z carriage of the Shapeoko 3. This upgrade significantly enhances the machine's rigidity while maintaining the original Z clearance. Engineered with a ball screw and linear rails, it facilitates smooth Z-axis movement, even when accommodating a heavy spindle.
The HDZ offers 150mm of Z-travel and features a robust 15mm machined aluminum back plate. It is particularly suitable for heavy 2.2kw spindles, supported by a new 80mm mount. The kit includes inductive proximity switches and mounts for the X, Y, and Z axes, ensuring comprehensive support by Carbide 3D and Carbide Motion.
This upgrade kit is delivered pre-assembled and is 95% ready for installation. The only components required from the existing setup are the spindle mount and limit switches. GRBL changes are managed through Carbide Motion, and compatibility is ensured for machines with Carbide Motion PCB version 2.4d or higher.
Note: Ensure approximately 270mm of clearance from the top of the X rail if the machine is enclosed, and verify PCB version compatibility for older machines.
