The ServoCity Odometry Pod (43mm Width, 48mm Wheel) is a sophisticated sensor designed to enhance the precision of robotic localization during autonomous operations. Developed with insights from the goBILDA® R&D team, this odometry pod offers superior performance by utilizing innovative internal packaging instead of traditional gears, ensuring smoother rotation and eliminating backlash. It is engineered for seamless integration with 1120 Series U-Channel, featuring a 48mm diameter wheel that fits perfectly within the channel, rotates beneath the chassis, and navigates small obstacles.
The high-resolution encoder provides precise data without overwhelming the controller, making it ideal for FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams. The pod is particularly effective on FTC field surfaces, though its performance on other surfaces should be verified. The odometry pod functions as a 'dead' omni wheel, integrated with an encoder that outputs rotation data as the chassis moves, allowing for accurate tracking of the chassis' position.
