The Sequent Microsystems Sixteen Solid State Relays 2A/24V 8-Layer Stackable HAT for Raspberry Pi is an advanced expansion board designed to enhance the functionality of Raspberry Pi systems. This HAT features sixteen solid state relays, each equipped with status LEDs and normally open contacts, providing reliable and efficient control over connected devices. The relays are designed for infinite lifetime cycles, making them ideal for applications requiring frequent switching.

This HAT is stackable up to eight layers, allowing for the addition of up to 128 relays to a single Raspberry Pi, thus offering a compact solution for managing a large number of loads. It is compatible with all Raspberry Pi models from zero to 5 and utilizes only the I2C port, leaving other GPIO pins available for additional uses. The board includes a hardware watchdog to ensure continuous operation, even if the Raspberry Pi software encounters issues.

The HAT is equipped with an RS485 port, which can be configured for communication with devices using the RS485 interface or for Modbus RTU protocol operations. A general-purpose push-button and a reset switch are included for convenient system management. The board is protected against reverse polarity and features a power LED to indicate when power is applied.

Note: Shutting down the Raspberry Pi by turning off the power can result in SD card failure; a shutdown command should be used before power cut-off.
