The Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32C6: Dual-Core RISC-V IoT Board w/ Wi-Fi 6 & BLE 5.0 is equipped with the ESP32-C6 SoC, which features a dual-core architecture comprising a high-performance processor capable of speeds up to 160 MHz and a low-power processor with a maximum frequency of 20 MHz. The integration of 512KB SRAM and 4 MB Flash memory on the chip enhances programming capabilities and expands the potential for IoT control applications.
The device is Matter native, offering advanced wireless connectivity options including 2.4 GHz WiFi 6, Bluetooth® 5.0, Zigbee, and Thread (802.15.4), making it an ideal component for creating Matter-compliant projects and ensuring interoperability within smart home environments. The board is designed to integrate seamlessly with mainstream cloud platforms, enhancing IoT project support. It also emphasizes security with features such as on-chip secure boot, flash encryption, identity protection, and a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), providing developers with the tools to create secure and connected solutions.
The XIAO ESP32C6 boasts a high-performance onboard ceramic antenna with an impressive range, and also provides an interface for an external UFL antenna. It features optimized power consumption management, including four power modes and an onboard lithium battery charging management circuit, allowing for efficient operation in remote, battery-powered applications.
Maintaining the classic XIAO design, the XIAO ESP32C6 conforms to the XIAO Standard Size of 21 x 17.5 mm and continues the tradition of single-sided component mounting. Despite its compact size, it offers a total of 15 GPIO pins, supports UART, IIC, and SPI serial communication ports, and is suitable for space-constrained projects such as wearables or as a production-ready unit for PCB designs.
The board is developer-friendly, supporting both Arduino and ESP-IDF, and provides a starter kit with courses for beginners to delve into electronics. It is well-suited for applications in secure and connected smart homes, space-limited and battery-powered wearables, and wireless IoT scenarios that require rapid and reliable data transmission.
