The Pololu High-Power Motor Driver 24v23 CS is a discrete MOSFET H-bridge motor driver designed for bidirectional control of high-power DC brushed motors. This compact board, measuring 1.8 by 1.2 inches, supports a voltage range from 5 to 40 volts and efficiently delivers a continuous current of 23 amperes without the need for a heat sink. It features an analog voltage output proportional to the motor current, enhancing its functionality.
This motor driver is equipped with an additional control input that allows for coasting, complementing the driving and braking capabilities of other Pololu high-power motor drivers. The board's performance is largely attributed to its N-channel MOSFETs, which have an absolute maximum voltage rating of 40 volts. However, to prevent damage, it is advisable to maintain a safe maximum voltage of approximately 34 volts due to potential ripple voltage on the supply line.
The driver is versatile, accommodating a wide range of currents and voltages, and can deliver up to 37 amperes of continuous current with an added heat sink. It offers a straightforward interface requiring minimal I/O lines and supports both sign-magnitude and locked-antiphase operation. Additionally, the board includes a current-sensing circuit capable of measuring bidirectional motor current up to 30 amperes, outputting an analog voltage.
Note: The board lacks reverse power protection and over-current or over-temperature protection, so it is recommended to use the integrated current sensor to prevent exceeding safe current levels.
