The Pololu Dual VNH5019 Motor Driver Shield for Arduino, designed and manufactured by Pololu, is a high-power brushed DC motor driver shield built around two VNH5019 ICs from STMicroelectronics. It enables bidirectional control of two independent DC motors from an Arduino or compatible microcontroller board. Each channel delivers up to 12 A continuous current with a 30 A peak capacity, and both channels can be combined to drive a single motor at up to 24 A continuous. The wide operating voltage range and robust protection features make it well suited for demanding embedded robotics and automation projects.

The shield integrates current-sense feedback on each channel, allowing the host controller to monitor motor load in real time during active drive phases. Ultrasonic PWM support eliminates audible switching noise, a practical advantage in noise-sensitive or precision motion applications. All VNH5019 control lines are also broken out along the board edge, enabling direct use with non-Arduino microcontrollers through standard 0.1" headers. An accompanying Arduino library simplifies software integration, while optional jumper configuration allows the motor power supply to also power the Arduino, reducing wiring complexity in standalone deployments.

Working better than expected

Using Roboshop's and Pololu's website for reference, getting this H Bridge driver board up and running was easy. I'm surprised at the current this can handle with getting too hot. As always Robotshop's ordering and delivery and fast and easy.
