The Pololu AltIMU-10 V6 3-Axis Gyro, Accelerometer, Compass & Altimeter is an advanced inertial measurement unit and altimeter that integrates a suite of sensors to provide comprehensive orientation and altitude data. The unit features a high-performance LSM6DSO gyro and accelerometer, an LIS3MDL magnetometer, and an LPS22DF digital barometer. These components work in concert to deliver ten independent measurements through an I²C interface, enabling the calculation of the sensor's altitude and absolute orientation.

This compact module is designed to facilitate ease of use for a variety of applications, including those by students and hobbyists. It incorporates additional electronics such as a voltage regulator and a level-shifting circuit to accommodate microcontrollers operating at different voltage levels while maintaining a small form factor. The AltIMU-10 V6 is fully populated with surface-mounted devices, ensuring readiness for immediate deployment.

The latest iteration of the AltIMU series, the V6 version, offers enhancements over its predecessors, including improved noise performance and a higher maximum output data rate for the gyro, as well as increased accuracy and a higher maximum output rate for the barometer. The unit is pin-compatible with previous versions, allowing for straightforward replacement with minimal software modifications.

The AltIMU-10 V6 is also compatible with the MinIMU-9 V6, sharing the same functionality with the addition of a digital barometer for pressure and altitude measurements. The device is designed to be user-friendly, with configurable options for the gyro, accelerometer, magnetometer, and barometer, including selectable sensitivities and output data rates. The sensors are accessible through a shared I²C interface, and a slave address configuration pin is provided to facilitate the connection of multiple AltIMUs on the same I²C bus.

The module's carrier board includes a low-dropout linear voltage regulator, enabling power from a single 2.5 V to 5 V supply, and a level-shifting circuit for I²C communication compatibility with 5 V systems. The 0.1″ pin spacing allows for easy interfacing with standard solderless breadboards and perfboards.

The AltIMU-10 V6 is a sophisticated device that requires careful handling and understanding of the datasheets provided for the LSM6DSO, LIS3MDL, and LPS22DF.
