The Pololu A89301-Based Sensorless Brushless Motor Controller, 50V, 11A is a sophisticated device designed for the sensorless control of brushless DC motors. It is built around Allegro’s A89301 BLDC driver and operates within a broad voltage range from 5 V to 48 V, with an absolute maximum of 50 V. This controller is capable of delivering up to 11 A of continuous motor current without the need for additional cooling mechanisms such as heat sinks or forced air.
The controller supports four distinct control interfaces: analog voltage, PWM duty cycle, pulse frequency, and I²C. The I²C interface is particularly versatile, allowing for extensive configuration of the A89301 settings. A dedicated configuration utility for Windows is available to facilitate setup when used with a compatible USB-to-I²C adapter. The controller employs a field-oriented control algorithm that utilizes sinusoidal waveforms for efficient motor operation.
This version of the product is shipped without terminal blocks or 0.1″ headers, and it includes a 4-pin JST SH-style connector for I²C communication. The device offers multiple startup options and can operate in either open-loop or closed-loop speed control modes. It also features configurable lock detection, under-voltage lockout, short circuit protection, and reverse-voltage protection up to 40 V.
Note: Ensure proper handling to avoid electrical hazards and adhere to safety guidelines during installation and operation.
