The Pololu 5:1 Micro Metal Gearmotor HPCB 6V w/ 12 CPR Encoder, Side Connector is a compact brushed DC motor equipped with a metal gearbox and an integrated encoder. The gearbox features a cross-section of 10×12 mm and a D-shaped output shaft measuring 9 mm in length and 3 mm in diameter. This motor is designed to provide precise control over rotational movements, making it suitable for applications requiring high accuracy.
The integrated encoder is a two-channel incremental Hall effect type, which detects the rotation of a magnetic disk attached to the motor shaft. It offers a resolution of 12 counts per revolution (CPR) of the motor shaft, which can be adjusted by the gearbox reduction factor to achieve the desired output resolution. The encoder is connected via a 6-pin JST SH-style male connector, compatible with corresponding cables and connector boards.
The motor's design allows for operation in both directions by alternating the polarity of the power supply. The encoder outputs digital signals that indicate motor direction and speed, with built-in hysteresis to prevent signal errors. The motor operates at a voltage of 6 V, with a no-load performance of 6500 RPM and a stall current of 1.5 A. The gear ratio is approximately 4.995:1, utilizing brass plates for durability and efficiency.
