The Pololu 50:1 Micro Metal Gearmotor LP 6V w/ 12 CPR Encoder, Side Connector is a compact brushed DC motor equipped with a metal gearbox and an integrated encoder. The gearbox features a cross-section of 10×12 mm and a D-shaped output shaft. This motor is designed to provide precise control over rotational movements, making it suitable for applications requiring accurate positioning and speed regulation. The integrated two-channel incremental Hall effect encoder senses the rotation of a magnetic disk on the motor shaft, offering a resolution of 12 counts per revolution (CPR) of the motor shaft. When combined with the 50:1 gearbox, the encoder delivers approximately 617 CPR of the gearbox output shaft, enhancing the motor's precision capabilities.

The encoder is equipped with a 6-pin JST SH-style male connector, compatible with corresponding cables and connector boards. The side connector orientation is perpendicular to the motor, facilitating versatile mounting options. The motor terminals are accessible via red and black wires, allowing for easy connection and operation in both directions by alternating the polarity of the power supply. The sensors are powered through designated pins, with the quadrature outputs providing digital signals that indicate motor direction and speed. The built-in hysteresis in the sensors' comparators ensures reliable performance by preventing spurious signals near transition points.
