The Pololu 30:1 Micro Metal Gearmotor MP 6V w/ 12 CPR Encoder, Side Connector is a compact brushed DC motor equipped with a metal gearbox and an integrated encoder. The gearbox has a cross-section of 10×12 mm, and the output shaft is 9 mm long with a 3 mm diameter D-shape. This gearmotor is designed to provide precise control over motor rotation through its two-channel incremental Hall effect encoder, which detects the rotation of a magnetic disk attached to the motor shaft. The encoder offers a resolution of 12 counts per revolution (CPR) of the motor shaft, which can be adjusted by the gearbox reduction factor to determine the counts per revolution of the gearbox output shaft.
The encoder is equipped with a 6-pin JST SH-style male connector, compatible with corresponding cables and connector boards. The side connector orientation is perpendicular to the motor, ensuring flexibility in mounting configurations. The motor terminals are accessible via red and black wires, and the motor can be operated in both directions by alternating the polarity of the power supplied to the motor leads. The sensors are powered through designated pins, with the quadrature outputs providing digital signals that indicate motor direction and speed.
This medium-power motor operates at 6V and features precious metal brushes, offering a gear ratio of 29.86:1 with brass plates. It delivers a no-load performance of 720 RPM at 70 mA and a stall extrapolation of 0.33 kg⋅cm at 0.67 A.
