The Pololu 210:1 Micro Metal Gearmotor LP 6V w/ 12 CPR Encoder, Side Connector is a compact brushed DC motor featuring a robust metal gearbox with a cross-section of 10×12 mm. It is equipped with a 9 mm long, 3 mm diameter D-shaped output shaft. This gearmotor integrates a two-channel incremental Hall effect encoder, which detects the rotation of a magnetic disk located on the motor shaft's rear protrusion. The encoder provides a resolution of 12 counts per revolution, utilizing both edges of both channels for precise motion detection.
The encoder is connected via a 6-pin JST SH-style male connector, compatible with corresponding cables and connector boards. The side connector orientation is perpendicular to the motor, facilitating versatile integration into various applications. The motor operates efficiently at a voltage of 6 V, with a low-power design featuring precious metal brushes. It achieves a no-load speed of 65 RPM while drawing a current of 40 mA.
The gearmotor's quadrature outputs, A and B, are digital signals that indicate motor direction and speed through their phase and frequency. These signals are square waves with approximately 50% duty cycles and are 90° out of phase. The motor's design includes built-in hysteresis in the sensors' comparators to prevent erroneous signals near transition points, ensuring reliable performance in dynamic environments.
