The Pololu 15:1 Micro Metal Gearmotor LP 6V w/ 12 CPR Encoder, Back Connector is a compact brushed DC motor featuring a robust metal gearbox with a cross section of 10×12 mm. It is equipped with a 9 mm long, 3 mm diameter D-shaped output shaft. This gearmotor integrates a two-channel incremental Hall effect encoder, which detects the rotation of a magnetic disk located on the rear protrusion of the motor shaft. The encoder provides a resolution of 12 counts per revolution, enhancing precision in applications requiring accurate motor control.
The encoder is connected via a 6-pin JST SH-style male connector, compatible with corresponding cables and connector boards. The back connector orientation aligns parallel to the motor, facilitating streamlined integration into various mechanical systems. The motor operates efficiently at a voltage of 6 V, with a no-load performance of 860 RPM and a current draw of 40 mA. It is designed with low-power precious metal brushes, ensuring durability and reliability in low-voltage applications.
The quadrature outputs A and B deliver digital signals that indicate motor direction and speed, with built-in hysteresis to prevent erroneous signals. These signals are square waves with a 50% duty cycle and are approximately 90° out of phase, providing clear and consistent feedback for precise motor control. The motor's stall extrapolation is rated at 0.17 kg⋅cm, with a current draw of 0.36 A, making it suitable for a range of light-duty applications.
