The Pololu 1000:1 Micro Metal Gearmotor MP 6V w/ 12 CPR Encoder, Back Connector is a compact brushed DC motor featuring a robust metal gearbox with a cross section of 10×12 mm. It is equipped with a 9 mm long, 3 mm diameter D-shaped output shaft. This gearmotor integrates a two-channel incremental Hall effect encoder, which detects the rotation of a magnetic disk located on the rear protrusion of the motor shaft. The encoder provides a resolution of 12 counts per revolution, enhancing precision in motion control applications.
The encoder is connected via a 6-pin JST SH-style male connector, compatible with corresponding cables and connector boards. The Back Connector orientation aligns parallel to the motor, facilitating streamlined integration into various mechanical systems. The motor terminals are accessible through designated pins, allowing for flexible operation by alternating the polarity of the power supplied to the motor leads.
The sensors within the encoder are powered through specific pins, with a voltage range of 2.7 V to 18 V. The quadrature outputs generate digital signals that indicate motor direction and speed, with built-in hysteresis to prevent erroneous signals. These outputs are square waves with a 50% duty cycle and are approximately 90° out of phase, ensuring reliable performance in detecting motor transitions.
