Description

  • Can be scripted using an advance motion control language
  • MCP has several user definable I/O
  • MCP multi mode interface
  • High performance motion control intelligence

The MCP236  Dual 30A 60VDC Advanced Motor Controller can be scripted using an advance motion control language. At the heart of the MCP is a 32Bit high performance Cortex M4 processor with DSP and FPU.

MCP236 Dual 30A 60VDC Advanced Motor Controller

The MCP has several user definable I/O. This includes integration of limit switches and high current control I/O to control contactors, relays, braking systems and more. In addition I2C and SPI are supported to connect to external sensors. The MCP programmable language and mix of control I/O eliminate the need for a secondary control system in most all applications.

MCP236 Dual 30A 60VDC Advanced Motor Controller

With the MCP multi mode interface it can be controlled from CANOpen, USB, RC radio, serial devices, analog and or microcontrollers such as an Arduino or Raspberry Pi. The MCP can easily be networked as slave or master using CANOpen.

A wide range of sensor inputs including potentiometers, absolute encoders, accelerometers, gyros and more are supported.

At the heart of the MCP is a high performance motion control intelligence which achieves high precision control and optimum motor performance in open or closed loop modes.

MCP236 Dual 30A 60VDC Advanced Motor Controller

With the MCP's synchronous regenerative capabilities it will charge a supply battery during slow down or breaking action. With it's advance circuitry it can also change direction during full throttle without damage! The MPC series incorporates a lithium cutoff mode protecting batteries from damage.

A company who stands behind their products

I ordered this here at robotshop.com. I was going to use it to drive my rc mower https://youtu.be/kFqouZvOQAE I went to their forum to get some advice. After a long conversation. I was convince to swap it out for a mcp 260. This is where I was shocked. Basicmicro allowed me to send it to them and exchange it and pay the difference. I didn't know companies did that anymore. I received the mcp 260 and wow. My RC mower was born. Today the mcp 260 stopped working. I called and they said send it to us and we will repair it free of charge. Today I ordered a second mcp 260 for my motors on my deck because I know they will support whatever ideas I have down the road.

Works well, but could be better

I used this motor controller for controlling a Voice Coil. Good: Meets specs Has Decent UI (for setting up the parameters) Lots of features (like uart communication and analog inputs) Cons: The controls (like PID) behave a little weird. For example, the velocity gains seem to be based on maximum current. So if you change max current, you have to re-scale your gains. The Position control is affected by the velocity control gains for some reason. I also cannot get it communicating at 460800 baudrate, but that might be a cable issue.
