The Grove Electromagnet is a type of magnet in which the magnetic field is produced by electric current. The Grove Electromagnet can hold 1kg weight. It easy to use, to learn electromagnet principles.
Works great, heats a little. I test it with a 0,5kg cylinder. I can pull it, but not lift it.

Works well, but not strong
A nice module, but only strong when directly contacting ferrous material. I tried putting a 0.2mm ABS cover over it and it effectively couldn't hold more than a paperclip.

Fonctionne très bien, chauffe un peu. Je le teste avec un cylindre de 0,5 kg. Je peux le tirer, mais pas le soulever.

Good
Works well - the board provides the necessary transistor, protection diode and resistors so no additional components are required. Note that you don't need a GrovePi kit or anything to make this work, just connect it to a 5V supply, ground and logic input as indicated. Works fine with a 3.3V logic signal (e.g. from a Raspberry Pi).
