The DFRobot Ultrasonic Time-of-Flight Material Detection Sensor is an advanced device that employs the variance in energy of the ultrasonic echo signal on different surfaces to discern materials. This sensor is characterized by its ultra-low power consumption, compact size, and lightweight design. It has been specifically engineered for material identification within a short range of 2-10 cm.
The sensor is capable of distinguishing between hard and soft materials and conveys this information via IO (high/low) or UART. It is primarily used in robotic cleaners to discern the type of floor material and automatically modify the cleaning strategy based on the identified ground information, thereby facilitating intelligent cleaning.
