The DFRobot MODBUS-RTU RS485 Soil Temperature, Humidity & pH Monitoring Sensor (IP68, 5-30V) facilitates the acquisition of critical soil data, ensuring optimal irrigation and plant growth conditions. It supports a wide voltage power supply range and communicates data via the reliable MODBUS-RTU protocol. The sensor is known for its rapid responsiveness and stable, reliable output. When integrated with an Arduino UNO R3 and TTL to 485 expansion board, it allows for swift test environment setup.

The sensor boasts an IP68 protection level and is vacuum-filled and sealed with black flame-retardant epoxy resin. Its probe is constructed from 316 stainless steel, offering rust-proof, waterproof, anti-corrosion, and salt-alkali corrosion resistance properties, making it suitable for long-term burial in various soil types.

This soil sensor is widely applicable in agricultural irrigation, greenhouses, floriculture, grasslands, pastures, rapid soil testing, plant cultivation, scientific experiments, grain storage, and the measurement of moisture content and temperature of various particulate matter.

Soil temperature directly impacts plant growth by promoting root development and nutrient absorption. Higher soil temperatures can enhance plant metabolism, nutrient transport, and microbial synthesis, thereby increasing growth rates and yields. Appropriate soil moisture levels are crucial for water and nutrient absorption and maintaining cellular water balance. Conversely, inadequate moisture can lead to dehydration and stunted growth, while excessive moisture may cause root hypoxia and hinder normal respiration and nutrient uptake.

Soil pH, indicative of the soils acid-base reaction, is determined by the concentration of hydrogen ions in the soil solution. It is essential for understanding soil conditions, as pH levels influence nutrient availability and overall plant health.
