The Cerulean Omniscan 450 Side Scan Sonar for Marine Exploration (BlueBoat/BlueROV2) is a sophisticated side scan sonar system designed for real-time imaging of the seafloor. It is an indispensable instrument for endeavors such as locating shipwrecks, conducting marine archaeology, mapping ecosystems, and aiding in search and recovery operations. The device employs 450 kHz transducers that emit acoustic pulses and capture the echoes from the seafloor, assembling a detailed image slice by slice as the vessel advances, covering a range of up to 150 meters.

The Cerulean Omniscan 450 SS is equipped with the innovative SonarView application, a BlueOS Extension that allows users to visualize side scan data in real time. This application stands out by processing data on-the-fly to produce an immediate, comprehensive depiction of the seafloor, eliminating the need for post-processing to georeference the data. SonarView offers features such as bottom detection and removal, 3D display of the vehicles position, sonar setting adjustments, and data logging for later review.

Designed primarily for the BlueBoat, the Omniscan 450 SS also functions with the BlueROV2 for subsea vehicle scanning, with a depth rating of 300 meters. The system includes all necessary components for seamless integration, such as WetLink Penetrators, transducer mounting brackets, cables, and hardware, with the exception of an Ethernet switch required for sonar electronics connectivity.

Warnings: The integration of the Omniscan 450 SS with the BlueROV2 does not come with an official guide, and users must determine the mounting details for the electronics within the enclosure independently.
