The Carbide 3D Shapeoko Standard Z-Plus CC Router 65mm is based on a custom aluminum extrusion that serves as both the frame and the motion system. Aluminum is way cheaper than excuses so Shapeoko's extrusion has been made much bigger than it needed to be.

The rest of the frame is 10 gauge steel. Carbide 3D has put extra bends in strategic locations to add more stiffness and powder coated the steel to make the finish as durable as possible. The most powerful CNC router in its class. It uses a 1.25 hp spindle and NEMA 23 motors for motion control.

Purchase of a standard Shapeoko 3 CNC

I am very satisfied with my standard Shapeoko 3. This is the new model that has just been released. The delivery is very fast for the North coast of Quebec. The product is excellent and very easy to assemble. Getting started is simple. For assembly you have to follow the instructions step by step, which I did not do. For this reason I had more difficulty for the final adjustment. I did a few steps twice for nothing. The machine is very precise. I did a test to machine a 100mm x 100mm square on pine and the measured result is 99.9mm x 99.9mm. The cutter that comes with the CNC is not sufficient. I bought the Carbide Bur Kit and don't regret it. I have everything I need to enjoy my CNC for a few months. The cutter for the V carving gives impressive results for my first experiment. I used Carbide Create software (free) to draw the cut lines and generate the G-code and Carbide Motion software (free) to control the CNC. It's two softwares are very easy to start and the handling is simple. Carbide 3D offers a multitude of tutorials that are very well done - simple and effective.
