The AxiDraw Brushless Servo Motor Performance Upgrade Kit (US) enhances the functionality of compatible AxiDraw V3 and AxiDraw SE family machines by replacing the standard pen-lift motor with a high-performance brushless servo motor. This upgrade significantly improves the speed and reliability of the pen-lifting mechanism, allowing for up to twice the speed when lifting and lowering the pen. The inclusion of a spring kit provides the flexibility to use a variety of writing implements, including traditional ballpoint pens that require more pressure.
The kit features a brushless servo motor equipped with a custom aluminum lift-arm, complete with a rolling wheel to minimize friction and wear. An upgraded power supply is also part of the package, ensuring optimal performance at higher speeds. The new motor power switch and improved cable management system contribute to a more professional appearance and functionality. The upgrade kit offers the choice to use the pen-lift stage with or without the spring kit, catering to different pen types and writing needs.
The brushless servo motor presents several advantages over standard servo motors, such as increased speed, which reduces plotting time, and a stronger lifting capacity that can handle heavier pens. Its durable construction promises a longer lifespan and better reliability. Additionally, the motor's all-metal case and the replaceable roller wheel on the aluminum lift arm enhance the overall aesthetic and longevity of the machine. An integrated strain relief feature also helps to keep cables neatly organized.
Please note that the brushless servo motor may exhibit a heavier weight, which could affect the performance of the machine at faster speeds, and the installation process is more involved than that of a regular servo motor. Specialized tools may be required for installation.
