This product is a single sheet of polycarbonate plastic, precisely cut into a 24 by 24-inch square. It is shipped with a protective covering on both sides to ensure its pristine condition upon arrival. Polycarbonate, known for its robustness and versatility, was first developed by Dan Fox at General Electric in 1963 and is commercially available under various trade names, including LEXAN, Makrolon, Hyzod, and Cyrolon.
Unlike Plexiglas or acrylic, which are prone to shattering, polycarbonate is highly recommended for mobile robotic applications due to its superior impact resistance and durability.
