The Akita Inu Hachi-EX Companion is a robotic canine, a part of the limited edition collection commemorating the 100th anniversary of Hachiko's birth. This officially licensed product of the HACHI100 project is a tribute to Hachiko's legacy in Shibuya and is restricted to a production of 500 units. Each unit is meticulously hand-painted and features a robotic function that emits a huff sound when stroked.
The Hachi-EX is equipped with four electrostatic sensors, commonly used in smartphone panels, that can discern between a stroke and a touch, altering its bark accordingly. Furthermore, it is designed to respond when called post-stroking, providing an interactive experience. The sounds it produces are recorded from real dogs, offering an authentic Akita dog companionship experience.
The dimensions of the dog are W420 x H280 x D290. It has been particularly well-received by the elderly, as it has been shown to have a therapeutic effect, contributing to psychological stability, particularly for individuals suffering from dementia.
