The PQ12-R Linear Actuator 20mm, 100:1, 6V, RC Control operates as a direct replacement for standard rotary servos. It uses the same standard 3 wires connectors, ground, power, and control. Regardless of how you drive your servos, driven with an RC receiver, an Arduino board, or a VEX micro-controller, the PQ12-R servo perfectly replaces a regular servo with the added benefit of providing linear motion.

The -R actuators are ideally suited to use in robotics and radio control models. They are a direct replacement for regular radio-controlled hobby servos. The desired actuator position is input to the actuator on lead 1 as a positive 5 Volt pulse width signal. A 2.0 ms pulse commands the controller to fully retract the actuator and a 1.0 ms pulse signals it to fully extend.

If the motion of the actuator, or of other servos in your system, seems erratic, place a 1–4Ω resistor in series with the actuator’s red V+ lead wire.

The PQ12–R Linear Servos are designed to work with typical RC receivers and battery packs. Consequently, they also are compatible with Arduino control boards, VEX Microcontrollers, and many other similar boards designed for robotics.

Why on earth are they so expensive?

The PWM versions are a bit sus. Actuonix simply soldered a pwm cable to their 3 pin ribbon cable coming out of the servo (minus 1 star)... Like why is there this fragile ribbon cable on my $70 servo?? Worse yet, the solder connection is lined up so it bumps against the side of the servo. So if you "slide" the servo into a 3d printed slot... you better have made a huge tunnel for that solder joint! The price makes zero sense. They do work well, and don't jitter. But goodness they are absurdly expensive for what they are. (minus 1 star) Where is the competition?

Linear servo in a tiny package

This linear servo is easy to use if one needs a linear motion. Just simply plug need normal servo signal, full stroke takes about 2 second. The precision with servo pulse width seems to be good. I have not put it into real action yet. Need to design mounting properly first. The only one thing I do not like about this product is that it is very difficult to get mounted since it has only one 3mm hole at the end. If Actuonix folks sees this review, could you please make more mounting in the next model.

Great actuator!!!

Easy to setup and pretty powerful. Used it to actuate 3 fingers of a flexible robotic gripper.
