ACROME SMD (Smart Motion Devices) products are modular products designed to simplify the creation of robotics and mechatronics systems with a holistic electronics, mechanics and software approach. See links for more details about SMD products.
The Ambient Light Sensor Add-On module is a specifically designed sensor board for robotics projects based on SMD products. This module is connected to the Add-On module socket of the SMD Red BDC Motor Driver. It measures light intensity level, converts to LUX units and sends the measurement values over an optimized I2C communication protocol.
The main electronic part of the product family is SMD Motor Driver boards, which can be daisy-chained with each other using an optimized message protocol over a multidrop RS-485 communication link.
The SMD add-on modules share a common physical size, hence multiple modules can be stacked up/down using the provided M3 mounting pads and input-output I2C sockets. Each add-on module has its own microcontroller, enabling onboard pre-processing and buffering.
Note: This product requires other SMD modules, power source (9-16V), a gateway module and a controller to operate. Consider purchasing SMD RED Starter Kit or Education Kit if you are using SMD products for the first time:
