The A-Star 32U4 Robot Controller LV w/ Raspberry Pi Bridge (SMT Components Only) is a versatile programmable module designed to serve as the central control unit for small robotic applications. It can function as an auxiliary controller when mounted on a Raspberry Pi or operate independently as a complete control solution. The module is powered by the ATmega32U4 AVR microcontroller, which includes built-in USB functionality and comes preloaded with an Arduino-compatible bootloader.
This controller features dual motor drivers capable of delivering 1.8 A per channel, making it suitable for driving motors in robotic systems. It also includes an efficient voltage regulator that supports a wide input voltage range from 2.7 V to 11 V, allowing for flexible power options, particularly in battery-powered applications. The board is designed to conform to the Raspberry Pi HAT specification, facilitating seamless integration with Raspberry Pi models equipped with a 40-pin GPIO header.
The A-Star 32U4 Robot Controller is equipped with level shifters to enable easy interfacing with Raspberry Pi, supporting I²C communication and other signal exchanges. It automatically supplies 5 V power to an attached Raspberry Pi, allowing the Raspberry Pi to manage high-level control tasks while the A-Star handles low-level operations such as sensor readings and timing-sensitive device control. The module's compatibility with the Arduino environment ensures ease of programming and integration with existing Arduino projects.
