The Boteyes Pad Telepresence Robot is a revolutionary video conferencing robot that enables you to work, learn, teach, or communicate remotely from any place in the world. It is manufactured by Boteyes LLC and measures 142 cm (56 in) tall and weighs 13,4 kg (29 lb). The robot has a foldable neck, a head with a replaceable tablet, and a movable three-wheeled platform. It is controlled remotely via a web browser and is powered by two heavy, non-spillable lead acid batteries placed low in the robot chassis, providing it with both manoeuvrability and stability. The robot is able to overcome obstacles such as doorsteps and cords up to 0.6 inches (1.5 cm) and never falls down.
The robot is equipped with a wide range of video communication tools, such as Skype, Zoom, WhatsApp, Viber, Facebook Messenger, and other. It also features auto answer, auto docking, digital zoom, screen sharing, taking photos and videos of the remote place and saving them as a file, switching between front and rear cameras, obstacle avoidance, and no subscription fee. This makes it an ideal tool for telecommuters, remote workers, and students, especially during the COVID 19 pandemic.
The BotEyes video communication system is based on WebRTC technology, but customers can use any telecommunication software of their choice. Skype is available by default on many modern TVs, allowing users to see a video from the robot on a big screen. The robot uses a separate computer running Windows 10 IoT Core to manage the wheel part, and WebSockets services to manage user accounts and to control the wheel base. This division of functions between two computers also allows customers to use any video messenger they like.
The robot's docking station is designed with a unique shape that enables it to catch the robot even if it approaches from the side or does not hit it, making manual docking simple. Additionally, the robot has the ability to automatically install in the dock.
